1. The function can be adjusted in a large range. By selecting raw data and adjusting formulas, many physical and mechanical function targets can be changed within a certain range, thereby meeting the different needs of users for product functions. For example, hardness is often an important goal of users for products. Polyurethane caster elastomers can be made into soft printing rubber rollers with a Shore A hardness of about 20, and hard rolling rubber rollers with a Shore D hardness of more than 70, which is difficult for ordinary elastomer materials to achieve. Polyurethane casters are polar polymer materials composed of many flexible segments and rigid segments. With the increase of the rigid segment and the increase of the polar group density, the original strength and hardness of the elastomer will increase accordingly.

 

2. Excellent wear resistance. Especially in the presence of wet media such as water and oil, its wear resistance is usually several to dozens of times that of general rubber materials. Materials such as steel are stronger, but not necessarily more wear-resistant. For example, in the large water pump in the Yellow River irrigation area, the metal mouth ring and maintenance ring of the overflow part were severely worn and leaked in less than a few hundred hours after being washed by a large amount of sediment. However, the mouth ring and maintenance ring of the polyurethane coated casters have been running continuously for 1800 hours without wearing out. Other rubber rollers of rice mills, sieve plates of coal preparation vibrating screens, crawlers of sports fields, dynamic oil seals of cranes and forklifts, elevator wheels and roller skates are all places where polyurethane casters can be used. What needs to be mentioned here is that in order to improve the friction coefficient of low and medium hardness polyurethane caster parts and improve the wear resistance under load, a small amount of lubricant, such as aluminum disulfide, graphite or silicone oil, can be added to this type of polyurethane caster.

 

3. Various processing methods and wide applicability. Polyurethane casters can not only be formed through plasticization, mixing, and vulcanization processes like ordinary rubber; they can also be made into liquid rubber, which can be cast or sprayed, encapsulated, and centrifugally formed. It can also be made into pellets, and like ordinary plastics, it can be shaped by techniques such as injection, extrusion, calendering, and blow molding. Or injection-molded parts, within a certain hardness range, can also be machined for cutting, grinding, drilling, etc. With the diversification of processing, the applicability of polyurethane casters is very wide, and the scope of application is also expanding.

 

4. Oil resistance, ozone resistance, aging resistance, radiation resistance, low temperature resistance, good sound transmission, strong adhesion, excellent biocompatibility and blood compatibility. These advantages are the reasons why polyurethane casters are widely used in military industry, aerospace, acoustics, biology and other fields.
