Polyurethane has excellent physical and chemical properties and has been widely used in various industrial fields in recent years.

Comparison of advantages and disadvantages of elastomer polyurethane

(1) Wide hardness range. Moreover, it still has good rubber elasticity and elongation under high hardness.

(2) High strength. The tensile strength and tearing strength of rubber are much higher than that of universal rubber. At plastic hardness, their impact strength and bending strength is much higher than plastic.

(3) Wear resistance. It has the good name of "wear-resistant rubber". Especially in the working conditions with wet medium such as water, its wear resistance is often several times that of ordinary rubber materials. Metal materials, such as steel, are hard but not necessarily wear-resistant.

(4) Good shock absorption, radiation resistance and breathable resistance.

These advantages make this polyurethane elastomer widely used in aerospace, water conservancy, mining and other fields. But polyurethane elastomer also has some shortcomings.

(5) High endogenous heat. High temperature resistance is average. In particular, the resistance to humidity and heat is not good. The normal service temperature should be within 120 degrees. If it works for a long time under the condition of high frequency oscillation, it must be used in the medium with sufficient cooling.

(6) resistance to strong polar solvents and strong acid-base media. At a certain temperature, alcohol, acid, ketone will make polyurethane elastomer swelling and degradation. Dichloromethane, trichloroethylene will make polyurethane elastomer swelling at room temperature.
