About Polyurethane
I. What is polyurethane
Polyurethane (PU), the full name of polyurethane, is a polymer compound, which was produced by Otto Bayer in 1937.
Polyurethane materials are very versatile and can replace rubber, plastic, nylon, etc., and are used in airports, hotels, building materials, automobile factories, coal mines, cement factories, high-end apartments, villas, landscaping, colored stone art, parks, etc. After decades of technological development, this material has been widely used in the field of home furnishing, construction, daily necessities, transportation, and home appliances.
II. The classification and application of polyurethane
Polyurethane can be used in the manufacture of plastics, rubber, fibers, rigid and flexible foams, adhesives and coatings, etc. It can be used in various fields of people's lives and has a wide range of applications.
1. Polyurethane foam
Polyurethane foam materials are divided into rigid polyurethane foam, semi-rigid polyurethane foam and flexible polyurethane foam.
Rigid polyurethane foam is mainly used for building thermal insulation materials, thermal insulation materials (thermal insulation of pipeline facilities, etc.), daily necessities (beds, sofas, etc. pads, refrigerators, air conditioners, etc., insulation layers, and surfboards, etc. core material. ), as well as means of transport (materials such as cushions and ceilings for automobiles, airplanes, and railway vehicles).
2. Polyurethane elastomer
Polyurethane elastomer has good tensile strength, tear strength, impact resistance, abrasion resistance, weather resistance, hydrolysis resistance, oil resistance and other advantages.
Mainly used for coating materials (such as protection of hoses, washers, tires, rollers, gears, pipes, etc.), insulators, shoe soles, and solid tires.
3. Polyurethane waterproof material
Polyurethane waterproof material is very convenient to use. It can be mixed on site and cured with humidity at room temperature after coating, so that a waterproof layer with no seams, rubber elasticity and good performance can be obtained, and it is easy to repair after damage.
It is generally used as paving materials, track materials for track and field, racetracks, park ground materials, thermal insulation window frames, etc.
4. Polyurethane coating
Polyurethane coating has strong adhesion, and the coating film has excellent abrasion resistance, water resistance and chemical resistance. Mainly used for furniture coatings, building materials coatings and industrial printing inks.
5. Polyurethane adhesive
The properties of the cured product can be adjusted by adjusting the ratio of isocyanate and polyol to achieve high adhesion to the substrate, excellent water resistance, oil resistance and chemical resistance. Polyurethane adhesives are mainly used in packaging, construction, wood, automobile, shoemaking and other industries.
6. Biomedical materials
Polyurethane has excellent biocompatibility, so it is gradually widely used as a biomedical material. It can be used in the manufacture of artificial cardiac pacemakers, artificial blood vessels, artificial bones, artificial esophagus, artificial kidneys, artificial dialysis membranes, etc.
