Polyurethane Elastomer
Polyurethane is a kind of widely used synthetic material, and its industrial production is mainly prepared by the reaction of polyisocyanate and polyol usually containing hydroxyl group. By choosing different number of functional groups and different types of functional groups, polyurethane products with different properties and various apparent forms can be prepared by different synthesis processes. There are very soft or hard foam plastics, elastomer rubber with excellent wear resistance, paint and coatings with high gloss, but also high line of synthetic fibers, synthetic leather with excellent flexural resistance, and adhesives with excellent bonding properties, etc.
Polyurethane elastomer: polyurethane elastomer can also be called polyurethane rubber. The so-called elastomer refers to its glass glass temperature below room temperature, elongation at break >50%, and polymer material with good resilience after removal of external force. Polymer materials whose glass transition temperature is higher than room temperature are called plastics. In the elastic body, the elongation at break is larger (such as >200%), the 100% constant elongation stress is smaller (such as <30Mpa), and the elasticity is better, which can be called rubber. So elastomer is a more extensive class of polymer materials than rubber, elastomer and rubber definition to a large extent there is no obvious difference, in many cases is negative general.
Polyurethane elastomer is a special kind of elastomer. It has many kinds of raw materials, various formulations and wide adjustable range. Polyurethane elastomers have a wide range of hardness, ranging from low modulus rubber below shore A10 to high modulus (far beyond the elastic modulus of other types of rubber), impact-resistant elastic materials. polyurethane elastomer can be divided into three main types (CPU-casting), TPU-thermoplastic and mixed (MMU-millable) according to its processing method. CPU is a viscous liquid before processing and molding, and its products can be vulcanized under pressure. It can be cured in heat or at room temperature. It can be poured by hand and can be continuously poured by machine. So casting molding is especially suitable for the production of large elastomer products. TPU products are usually formed by plastic-like processes, such as injection molding, extrusion and calendering. Mpus use common rubber processing equipment to produce products.
