Polyurethane Caster Wheels:

Taking advantage of its excellent durability and high loading capacity, polyurethane (PU) is often used in a wide variety of Precision Instrument Caster wheel surfaces. PU wheels not only give you many of the advantages of rubber wheels, such as good noise reduction, shock absorption, and floor protection, but compared to rubber wheels, PU can withstand much higher load capacities. Even under heavy loading, non-slip, highly resilient PU castors will not leave marks on floor surfaces.

Another factor that enters the equation when transporting precision electronic instruments is the buildup of static electricity. As with rubber wheels, PU will prevent the buildup of static electricity, preventing damage or disruption to equipment. This added precaution is essential for equipment used under critical operating conditions such as during surgery or fine instrument testing.

One drawback of PU is that it has weaker hydrolytic stability. As a result, care must be taken to assure the wheels are not exposed to wet or humid environments. Cleaning fluids, chemicals, and high-temperature conditions such as those seen during steam sterilization processes also need to be avoided. PU also cannot be used cold environments as the PU surface will gradually harden and degrade if exposed to cold temperatures for long periods of time.
